After a week long wait, which resulted in feverish pitch anticipation, Thai media giant GMMTV finally unveiled their new projects for 2023.
There were some intriguing combinations and permutations; some familiar faces and pretty new breakthroughs. Titled “Diversely Yours”, this year’s lineup is just as the name suggests; quite diversified in terms of storytelling and versatility. Following the huge success of BL dramas, “Not Me Series”, “Star & Sky Series” and “Vice Versa Series”, GMMTV is definitely trying to reap the benefits by recasting most of their popular BL couples from 2022. Without further ado, let’s talk about the available information relative to these upcoming shows!
A Boss and a Babe
The Enchanté couple are back with their new venture; I wasn’t expecting their comeback, so this was a pleasant surprise. Adapted from the novel “Khob Wanni Loek Kan Pi Mai #chokachekhukan” (คบวันนี้ เลิกกันปีใหม่ #ชอกะเชร์คู่กันต์) by Brave2Y (หน่วยกลว้าวาย), A Boss and a Babe is an office romance between the flirtatious boss, Gun (Force Jiratchapong) and his oblivious intern, Chay (Book Kasidet). I wasn’t enamored with the abysmal storyline in their last project; but ForceBook have a natural chemistry that cannot be overlooked. GMMTV isn’t exactly known for promoting their BL couples; so it is quite shocking that this couple has two new projects lined up on the heels of their last one. Pretty much defines their popularity, because the executives at GMMTV never hand out second chances. The trailer locks in on the office setting (which is a new adage) and the hilarious romcom touch is innovative. I’m not yet sure if Book will be able to adapt to the hilarity that this character role demands; but if he does, then we have a winner at hand. Also, the show has a new pairing in the form of secondary couple, Fluke Pusit (The Shipper) and Ohm Thiphakorn. I’m definitely looking forward to watching the dynamic between this new and old pairing.
Chay is a gamer who wants to get big in the e-sports industry. However, his plans are dramatically altered when is made to intern at a company. There his boss Gun has him do some pretty weird errands, confusing Chay about his true intentions. What do Gun’s actions mean? And will Chay return back to his gaming life?
After the astounding success of their last project, the “Star and Sky Series” couple Dunk Natachai & Joong Archen have been roped in for this second project, Hidden Agenda. The story is based in the same varsity setting (that is a characteristic of most GMMTV shows), but having a bisexual main lead adds to the novelty. The plotline seems quite similar to their first project “Star in My Mind”, so comparisons are possible. As the name suggests, the storyline is based on the hidden agenda pursued by the main lead Joke (Joong Archen) as he orchestrates an elaborate plan to get closer to his secret crush, Zo (Dunk Natachai). The show has the added advantage of two more intriguing couples; the anticipated pairing of Vice Versa couple Boom Tharatorn & Aou Thanaboon Kiatniran. This will be their full-fledged outing as a BL couple; avid fans were eagerly awaiting this announcement (although some might be disappointed that they still haven’t got their big break as the main lead couple). The second pairing involves popular veteran actors Pod Suphakorn (Dark Blue Kiss) and Guy Sivakorn (2gether the Series).
Zo, a college freshman whose never been in love, decides to change it by making the college’s popular girl Nita as his girlfriend. However, to woo her, he approaches Joke, Nita’s ex, for dating advice. What he fails to realize is that Joke has had his eyes on him for a long time and uses this opportunity to approach Zo. Will Joke succeed?
Hot on the heels of their 2022 hit “Not Me Series”, popular BL couple Off Jumpol & Gun Atthaphan will be pairing in their fourth project, Cooking Crush. Adapted from the novel “Love Course! เสื้อกาวน์รุกเสื้อกุ๊กรับ” by iJune4S, this show is a gourmet romance between an awry medical student, Ten (Off Jumpol) and his cooking coach, Prem (Gun Atthaphan). In comparison to Not Me (which touched on some political issues and dark themes), Cooking Crush seems like a milder romcom. The show’s selling point is obviously the undeniable chemistry between Off & Gun. Both are veteran actors and the trailer seems exciting. This drama will also introduce the new pairing of Fire (Neo Trai Nimtawat) and Neo (Mark Pakin). I was actually surprised with this announcement, because this means that Neo will no longer be pairing with his former BL partner, Louis Thanawin (Fish in the Sky, The Eclipse). This news might be distressing to loyal NeoLouis fans because there were hoping to see them again in a new show. Maybe that would happen in the near future. Fingers crossed!
Prem, Dynamite and Samsi run a not-so-popular restaurant. With heavy losses, the trio find out about a cooking competition with a huge reward that could help their business. However, preparations go awry, and Prem decides to back out when he meets Ten, a medical student under a heavy stress burden. Ten approaches prem to teach him cooking, and Prem uses this as a scam opportunity to make money. However, as the lessons go on, it isn’t the food that’s hot, but also their faces as they slowly fall for each other.
After successfully making an impression on everyone with their multiverse romance “Vice Versa”, Jimmy Jitaraphol and Sea Tawinan will be starring in their second venture “Last Twilight”. It seems like these two are meant to star in angsty roles where one main lead is always left unaware about the other lead’s identity/looks. The drama hinges on the impossible romance between a debt ridden mechanic, Mork (Jimmy Jitaraphol) and the visually impaired heir, Day (Sea Tawinan). The storyline seems quite similar to the recently concluded Vietnamese drama “My Cinderella” and since this show isn’t a book adaptation; I have my own doubts about the possible similarities. Nevertheless, Jimmy and Sea make a handsome couple and their chemistry is topnotch. So, this show will definitely be on the top of my watchlist!
Burdened with heavy debt, Mork, a mechanic, is forced to take a high paying job as a caretaker for Day, a rich heir who suffers from partial blindness after an accident. Day recruits Mork as he realizes the latter does not see him as a disabled person, but rather as co-equals. As they spend time together, the two begin developing feelings for the other. However with Day just having 180 days until he becomes permanently blind, how will the two weather the trials ahead?
This show is a messy amalgamation of several dark themes- Prolonged Nudity, Friends With Benefits, Secret Crushes, Betrayals and Frequent Backstabbing. I have already watched the trailer thrice and I’m still shocked by the dynamics between the six main leads. That’s right, this show stars three prominent BL couples- Mew (Book Kasidet), Top (Force Jiratchapong), Ray (Khaotung Thanawat), San (First Kanaphan), Boston (Neo Trai Nimtawat), and Nick (Mark Pakin), where all the actors are innocuously paired with each other. I’m still questioning the mechanics, since the shit storm seems to be centered around Mew, who has quite a few secret admirers. This show is FirstBook and FirstKhaotung’s third project while, as for NeoMark, Only Friends will be their second outing together. Exploring dark themes isn’t something new for FirstKhaotung, but the subject matter is pretty new for FirstBook & NeoMark (since they have mostly starred in lighter romcoms). I’m really excited to watch the interpretation of their respective characters. This one is going to be a wild ride!
Mew, a final-year university student, has never encountered the pleasures of adult life. One day, his friend Boston takes him clubbing to give him a sight of the nightlife. There, he meets Top, who tries to seduce him. Yet reluctant at first, Mew gives in and falls for Top. However, he doesn’t realize that others want to break their relationship. Can Mew succeed in his love?
There have been rumors surrounding the possibility of this new pairing for the past few months. So, the announcement wasn’t surprising; the trailer was. Popular BL actor Perth Tanapon (Love by Chance S1 & S2 Reminder S, Vice Versa Series) who has recently joined the GMMTV bandwagon, stars as the main lead, opposite Chimon Wachirawit. This is Chimon’s first breakthrough and the trailer certainly promises a fiery chemistry between both. Dangerous Romance is based on the “Enemies to Lovers” trope between high school teenagers, Kanghan (Perth Tanapon) and Sailom (Chimon Wachirawit) who were bought together by unexpected circumstances. Other BL actors joining the cast are Marc Pahun Jiyacharoen, Pawin Kulkaranyawich (My Gear and Your Gown) and Pepper Phanuroj (Vice Versa).
Sailom, a poor yet studious student, has worked several odd jobs along with his elder brother to keep his affairs in order. One day, a misunderstanding causes him to hate the school’s bully, Kongkarn. However, fate plays in and Sailom is made Kongkarn’s tutor. As they spend time together, the two realize that the two have a lot in common and their hate could turn into something more beautiful in their hearts.
Cherry Magic Thailand
This was another shocking announcement; I’m still coming to terms with the fact that TayNew will be playing the role of Kurodachi (originally played by Machida Keita & Akaso Eiji). One of the most popular Japanese drama of all time, Cherry Magic has a cult following; both the drama and the lead couple are immensely popular and it will be difficult job to match their distinctive portraits. Tay Tawan (Karan) and New Thitipoom (Achi) are one of the oldest and most phenomenal couples in the BL industry; so their selection is understandable. But will they be able to live up to the huge expectations pinned on their shoulders by the avid fans of this franchise? It’s a huge deal and comparisons with the original are inevitable. Also, the drama format will be substantially different from the Japanese one, so will they be able to recreate the same magic? There are a lot of speculations, doubts and questions surrounding this announcement; let’s hope that GMMTV doesn’t tank this project. Apart from TayNew, this show will also front the new pairing of Jinta (Junior Panachai) and Min (Mark Jiruntanin) who will be reprising the roles of the secondary couple (played by Asaka Kodai & Yutaro in the original).
Achi is a regular salaryman who, at the age of 29, was still a virgin. On his 30th birthday, he suddenly finds himself acquiring a new power – the ability to read other people’s minds whenever he touches them. Shocked and unnerved by this new ability, he struggles to cope. That is, until one day he accidentally touches the handsome and popular fellow office-worker, Karan, only to find out that Karan actually has secret romantic feelings for him. How will Achi cope with this new revelation?
Our Skyy 2
Many are beguiled by the announcement of this sequel. Our Skyy Season Two will be an eight-part anthology that continues the stories of your favorite GMMTV couples-
☆ Tian and Phupha (A Tale of Thousand Stars)
☆ Pran and Pat (Bad Buddy)
☆ Khabkluen and Daonuea (Star and Sky: Star in My Mind)

GMMTV’s first full-fledged GL project, starring popular Bad Buddy couple, Milk Pansa Vosbein & Love Pattranite in the lead roles of Ongsa/Earth and Sun; 23.5 promises a rustic lesbian romance in a high school setting. Avid fans have been anxiously waiting for a new show centered around their favorite GL couple and GMMTV has lived upto the expectations. Milk & Love have a beautiful chemistry, which translates to great romance on-screen. I’m definitely looking forward to watching this drama, simply because this show will open doors for more GL dramas in the near future. Starring alongside the main couple are rookie actors Gemini Norawit & Fourth Nattawat from My School President.
Ongsa, a loner all her life, falls in love at first sight with the more popular Sun. However, with the fear of being rejected, she decides to approach her under the pseudonym “Earth”. As Sun gets more and more curious about who Earth is and starts to fall for her, will Ongsa reveal herself to Sun?

We still have some unfinished business with a few BL dramas that were showcased at “GMMTV Borderless- 2022” Lineup. Let’s take a look at what’s happening with them-
☆ Frankly, I had almost forgotten about this show, until they released the trailer last week. Starring rookie actors Gemini Norawit & Fourth Nattawat, My School President is a breezy romance between two high school students, the school president Tin and the music club leader Gun. Premieres on 2nd Dec, 2022.
☆ The mafia romance Never Let Me Go, starring main leads Phuwin Tangsakyuen & Pond Naravit is still actively filming. Most probably, the drama will premiere in the first half of 2022.
☆ One of the most surprising pairings last year, Krist Perawat was supposed to be paired opposite close friend, Mike Chinnarat in Be My Favorite. Unfortunately, Mike left the project even before the shooting began. Not Me star Fluke Gawin Caskey has stepped into his shoes and will be starring as main lead, Pisaeng. The show has begun shooting and will probably air next year!
