Upcoming Asian BL Dramas- Part X

It’s raining Thai BL’s and today’s news feature will be solely dedicated to some of the most anticipated shows in the upcoming months as well as the first quarter of 2022.

Although the bleak Covid-19 situation continues to put a downer, the Boy’s Love universe seems unaffected. The weekly premiere of new shows is a testament to this fact. As such, let’s take a dive into the Thai shores and find some new gems that are taking the social media by storm!

Bad Buddy The Series

Obviously one of the most anticipated shows in the “GMMTV 2021” line-up, “Bad Buddy” premieres this weekend. The popular Frigay spot is being redeemed. While its predecessor “Fish Upon The Sky” received mixed reviews, fans are expecting great things from this drama. The heavily overused “Enemies To Lovers” trope might seem cliché, but GMMTV is banking on the promise of a refreshing chemistry between main leads Ohm Pawat and Nanon Korapat. Ohm Pawat is a popular name in the BL circles, because of his versatile repertoire that includes Make It Right (S1 & S2), He’s Coming to Me and the emotional sojourn Dew the Movie. For Nanon, Bad Buddy is his first full-fledged BL role. It remains to be seen if Ohm and Nanon will be successful in launching a new ship or will their onscreen romance fail to capture the audience’s attention?

Synopsis-

Ever since they were young, Pran and Pat’s fathers’ had a deep and raging rivalry — trying to one-up each other on everything. This also extended towards their sons. Comparing their sons’ achievements and merits, whether it be academic or extracurricular — the two fathers left no stones unturned to outshine and gloat in front of the other. It was almost like rivalry was passed down as a family heirloom and the two boys became rivals as well. Until… they grew tired and became friends. Really good friends. However, because of their fathers’ rivalry, their friendship had to be kept under wraps. And so began a journey of secret friendship… and then perhaps a sweet secret romance?

☆ Ohm and Nanon were recently featured in the sixth volume of Mint Magazine. They do look delectable together!

Nilundon The Series

With three different couples, I’m totally looking forward to the premiere of this upcoming drama. While Onzon Creative 365’s previous venture “Cupid Coach” failed to make the mark, there is a lot of anticipation surrounding “Nilundon”. Starring Tie Sukij and Nut Nutchapon in the titular roles of Nilun and Don, the premise is based on the blossoming romance between a famous hotel heir and a common barista.

Synopsis-

In this love story, Don is a freelance photographer and heir to a famed Seoul hotel and restaurant business. Following the death of his family, Don is called back to Thailand according to his father’s final wishes. It’s when his heart is shattered that he meets Nilun, a gregarious young barista. Meanwhile, producer Pun is head-over-heels in love with her close friend Min, a mischievous YouTuber, while veterinarian Pasin has fallen in love with Don’s impish cousin Arlex.

Nearly two years later, after they starred in the reincarnation saga “Until We Meet Again”, Ohm Thitiwat and Fluke Natouch will be playing a romantic couple again. This show is another show with a ginormous cast and I’m totally looking forward to the marketing and promotional activities!
